How to use LingoPie to learn Italian

The concept behind LingoPie is simple. Select a TV show or movie that interests you and take advantage of LingoPie's advanced learning tools while you watch, like this:

Double subtitles: Follow your native language and Italian subtitles, or if you're brave enough, just choose Italian subtitles. If you find it difficult to follow even with subtitles, you can slow down the audio or loop through scenes you find particularly difficult to understand. You can even choose to record yourself reciting the subtitles, and LingoPie will provide you with pronunciation feedback, rated on a scale of 1 to 100.

Interactive vocabulary practice: Click on words and phrases in the subtitles to get instant translations and definitions. Save newly encountered words to your personalized vocabulary list for easy review. When you hover over a word, the video automatically pauses so you can save the word and continue watching.

Grammar tips: Whenever you encounter a grammar pattern you don't understand, click the lightbulb icon to access LingoPie's Grammar Coach. All parts of speech (nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc.) are color coded. The tool also provides information about the gender and plural of the noun you click on.

Games, flashcards, and more: Memorize your saved words and phrases with interactive games, flashcards, and challenges.

Track your progress: Monitor how long you watch, words you save and words you learn.

Private Lessons: Discuss your favorite shows and movies in customized one-on-one lessons with certified instructors. Simply click “Book My Course”, complete the subscription process, and select the date and time on the calendar that works best for you.

LingoPie can be accessed from your desktop or downloaded as an app for Android or Apple devices. Personally, I prefer using it on a laptop because I like having a bigger screen when watching movies. Still, having the option of a mobile app is definitely a plus.

It's worth noting that LingoPie is not a formal language course, so it may not be very effective as a stand-alone learning resource. It is most beneficial when used in conjunction with other materials such as textbooks or language courses, whether in a school or university setting or through online platforms such as Rosetta Stone and Rocket Languages.

Since it is not a structured course, LingoPie may not be suitable for absolute beginners or individuals with no language learning experience. The platform is most beneficial for learners at the lower-intermediate level and above. However, it doesn't hurt to give it a try as a beginner, especially if you want to immerse yourself in the sounds of the language.
