From now on, AfterShokz will officially be renamed Shokz. Shokz claims that the simplification of the brand name comes from After the earthquake to Shokz created a shorter and more powerful word that is easier to remember and share, which helps spread the word and allows more sports enthusiasts to enjoy the benefits of open listening.
Obviously, the abbreviation of “AfterShokz” to “Shokz” means that the eyes will visually fall on the “o” in the middle of the word.
The “o” stands for sound waves, symbolizing Shokz’s focus on bone conduction technology and acoustics.
Following the rebranding, Shokz announced the new OpenRun bone conduction sports headphones.
They are more or less the same as the existing flagship Aeropex, but now have a faster fast charging function.
10 minutes of fast charging can provide 1.5 hours of playing time. Never worry about running out of battery or delaying your training time because you forgot to charge the headset. The price is 129.95 pounds, which is more affordable than the original Aeropex.
- Bluetooth 5.1
- 8-hour battery life
- Fast charge
- IP67 waterproof
- Lightweight 26 g flexible titanium frame
As always, bone conduction headphones are most suitable for sports, and the overall sound quality is not as good as in-ear headphones, but the situational awareness provided by in-ear headphones is not comparable. Then you have brands like Soundcore and Bose, which have frames with built-in speakers. These sound good, but once you do anything slightly drastic, the sound will be overwhelmed by ambient noise.
Shokz is also the only brand recommended by England Athletics to be used during the event.
I will review these live broadcasts soon, which should have been completed during Christmas, but life is hindered.
