Someone Just Thought of the Absolute Dumbest Way to Convince Black People to Take the Vax – RedState

It’s been a few days since President Joe Biden has made a gaffe, so someone had to step up to the plate and make our collective jaws drop at yet another distressing display of utter imbecility. This “someone” was a company called “BLK,” a dating app designed to connect black men and women. The organization partnered with rapper Juvenile, who reworked his 1999 hit song “Back That Thang Up,” into yet another pro-vaccine hip-hop anthem now titled “Vax That Thang Up.”

Here’s a small sampling of the lyrics:

Girl you look good once you vax that thang up. You a handsome young brother once you vax that thang up/Dating in real life, you need to vax that thang up/Feeling freaky all night, you need to vax that thang up.

Since I had to suffer through the song, here it is for your sadistic pleasure.

In a post on his Instagram page, Juvenile wrote: “TO EACH IS OWN! Do what’s best for YOU and YOUR LIFE no matter what’s being said or done!”

In a statement released to Rolling Stone, the rapper stated that he “wanted to do something positive for my people” and that “we really do all need to be vaccinated so we can continue to do our thing and survive.”

BLK also issued a statement explaining that it hopes the ruined song will ease black Americans’ concerns about taking the jab:

Black adults under the age of 40 are the most likely group to avoid the Covid-19 vaccination, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Distrust of doctors and government, less access to vaccination centers, and online misinformation each play a role. We hope this video is both entertaining and actionable.

Aside from the fact that this song used to be one of my jams back when I was 19-years-old, brazen pandering of this type has always rankled me. Remember when Gov. Andrew Cuomo got blasted on social media for promoting a video featuring hip-hop group Run DMC performing a pro-vaccine song? Black people lambasted that track just like they are criticizing Juvenile’s song.

It’s not just that these songs are corny as hell, it’s the pandering. It’s the idea that using a form of music invented and embraced by the black community will somehow compel black people to trust the vaccine. It’s this type of tone-deaf infantilization that the left displays towards the black community. Even though this particular song was produced by a black app, it’s worth noting that the dating service is owned by Affinity Media which is far from being a black-owned company.

That’s right. This ridiculous idea was cooked up by white progressives in the Bay Area. I know, shocking, right? Who could have foreseen that this dumpster fire was sanctioned by California elites?

Oh well. At least Juvenile’s getting paid.
