Review -StarTech.com, the manufacturer of network and display products, must have been tired of finding kits for installers because they just launched their own product line. Professional IT technical backpacks are available in two sizes and one color, and are designed for those who must carry their equipment with them for installation and maintenance. I received a 15.6-inch laptop backpack, but there is also one that can be used with a 17.3-inch laptop. Let’s take a look at this!

I used some alternative lighting in some of these shots. The lede image is accurate color.

What is it?

Ballistic nylon multi-section laptop backpack with detachable gear box.

Design and features

The StarTech IT backpack is a three-compartment bag with a small accessory envelope stitched on the front. The thickness of the main rear area is large, which is no problem for any laptop made in the past decade. There are also sleeves for thinner laptops or tablets. The sleeves on both sides can also be used for paperwork or manuals. One has a hook and loop strap on the top and the other has a zipper on the top.

The previous part is more like a management area. There are rings for items such as pens, lamps, or multifunctional tools, and a mesh area with a zipper. These are not very big, but they can be installed with telephone lines, ID cards, microfiber cloth, etc.

The middle part is the area where the bag is taken out of the crowd. There is a compartment at the bottom that can be blocked with filling material and secured in place with hook and loop seams, similar to a camera bag divider. On the outside of the bottom, there is a zippered garage door opening into which a separate padded accessory pocket can be installed. This allows you to place adapters, tools, meters, etc., in a place that will not prevent you from accessing the main part of the bag but can be easily accessed from the outside. (You can also use it for noise-canceling headphones, power adapters, or your favorite reading materials. But this is a handy technique.)

Dragging our things around seems to be an increasing trend again. However, whether it is installing new equipment or removing the same equipment from a repurposed office space, IT staff will always be required to work.Move/add/change team is Sea bee In modern connected office spaces, they must carry their equipment with them, because even if you visited there just last week, you don’t know what you will find in a site.

Remove the gear bag and fold the “floor” of the center space, you can fully access the entire depth.

Performance

Although the filling of the bag seems to be sufficient, the website does mention “raised laptop/tablet compartment to prevent falling.” I found this was not true: when I reached into any sleeve in the rear compartment, I could feel the padding (approximately 0.5 inches of closed-cell foam) and then the floor below. My experience and understanding of the raised sleeve is that when the bag is full, the laptop/tablet sleeve not only uses padding to isolate the ground, but also has a structural sewing gap, usually one inch or more. If you put the laptop in your sleeve, it won’t hit the ground. The sleeves in StarTech run through the entire depth of the bag, so when your laptop is on the concrete floor of the wiring room, be careful when putting it in the bag.

what do I like

  • Well-built main shell-the spacing between rivets and fillers is very good.
  • The detachable accessory box slides into its own garage, but the space can be reclaimed internally if needed.
  • The management bag will not waste space on pen holders and unusable card slots.

What will i change

  • Protective covers for laptops and tablets go all the way down-prefer “air gaps” to prevent corners
  • Set aside some size for the fleece-lined cell phone/glasses pocket.
  • The through tie rod strap is too thin. A second one is needed at the bottom of the unit, or the entire back is made straight.

Final thoughts

If you are a technician engaged in IT jobs, you need to be prepared for any situation, which means preparing tools, cables, adapters, and other instruments. The removable accessory box on these Pro IT backpacks provides great flexibility. If the contents of the box cannot be flown in the cabin, please remove the box and put it in your checked luggage. If you need extra space for anti-static footwear or rabbit suits, you can reserve that space with or without a protective cover. If you need to use the space for complete internal storage, quickly flip the hook and loop panel, and you will suddenly have room for clothes, a full-size keyboard, or anything your world needs. Flexibility is the key here, and I appreciate this kit.
