But whether this person was killed or a Taliban member was driving, the bigger problem here is that the Black Hawk is simply in the air. I am a commercial pilot. If I don’t wrap it around the nearest light pole immediately, I can’t enter Blackhawk and get it off the ground. Basically untrained people may be able to fly a Cessna for a few minutes without committing suicide. You can’t do this with a helicopter, let alone a helicopter as complicated as the Black Hawk.
This means that the Taliban must have some Afghan Air Force defectors who are now willing to help the terrorist government. In other words, these are your taxes at work and are almost certainly used to train the people behind the scenes. Don’t you just feel good about that investment?
Of course, just a few days ago, the Biden administration insist The Taliban did not have the technical knowledge to use most of the equipment they captured. Like most of what the President and his associates said last month, this proved to be incorrect. If they can drive the Black Hawk, they can drive the M113 and use night vision goggles.
This whole thing is just a disaster. The Taliban now have a more capable combat force, with more advanced technology than many NATO countries. Although long-term maintenance may be a problem, you can expect that their upcoming relationships with China and Pakistan will bring benefits there.

I know I might complain about accountability at this point, but I hope Cruz and other Republicans will continue to emphasize this issue. This is not something that should be allowed to blow through. If we have to wait until after 2022 to start the investigation, so be it. But regardless of the time frame, they all need to happen. What the Biden administration has done here may be the biggest foreign policy mistake since the 1970s.
