RKI continues to rate the overall health risk of people who have not been vaccinated or who have only been vaccinated once in Germany as high overall. For people who are fully vaccinated, the researchers rate it as medium.
The analysis shows that since the beginning of July, the incidence in Germany has increased, especially in the 10 to 49-year-old age group. A similar increase in this population was observed in the summer of 2020-but only after five weeks, from the end of September to the beginning of October. There was no vaccine protection at the time. So far this summer, the more contagious Delta variant has dominated — now 99%.
The incidence rate in Germany on Thursday was about 44 cases per 100,000 inhabitants-but regional fluctuations are high. In total, 63.7% of the population has at least one vaccine against Covid-19. 58.2% of people are fully immune to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
RKI’s weekly reports are delayed. Most of the results in the latest analysis are related to data from the first week of August.
