The Tribit XSound Mega speaker is a pill-shaped speaker, waterproof (IPX7), has Bluetooth 5.0, equalizer option, long battery life, shoulder strap, can be linked to other Tribit speakers, and even has a built-in light display!

Design and Features
The Tribit XSound Mega is the big brother to other Tribit XSound speakers (manufactured by Tribit many Bluetooth Speaker). It’s a medium-sized pill-shaped portable speaker that can last all day while playing music at super high volume.
It’s fairly sturdy, but I wouldn’t call it sturdy. It can be thrown away on camping trips – but it’s a little too delicate to be abused.and it Do Looks refined. Dressed for parties, it’s encased in an easy-to-grip rubber case with a painted metal grill on the front. The Tribit also includes a shoulder strap, making it super easy to carry over long distances.
IPX7 waterproofing means you can safely take it to the pool, the ocean, wherever you find water (if you’re using it at the beach, remember to rinse it off – salt will eventually destroy anything). The IPX7 rating means the XSound Mega can remain submerged under water at appx. 3 feet for 30 minutes and still works fine. However, this rating doesn’t mean the speaker is dustproof. Oh, and it floats too, so if it falls into a pool or lake, you can reach out and grab it.
XSound Mega has some interesting features. There is a water seal on the rear of the speaker that contains a 5V USB A output port, a 5V input/output USB-C port, and an AUX mini-plug port for hardwiring to an audio source. Both USB ports can be used to charge USB-powered devices, so you can charge your smartphone while it’s feeding audio to the speaker. That’s cool. The USB-C port is also the charging port on the speaker itself. Battery life is 20 hours, depending on conditions and capacity.
The top of the XSound Mega has a reasonable button layout. From left to right: On/Off, Bluetooth Pairing, Play/Pause/Skip, Volume Down, Volume Down, Lighting (yes, Lighting) and Equalizer. All buttons are flush with the speaker and protected by a rubber cover. They are easy to push.
The EQ button has three pre-programmed settings: XBass, Music and Audiobooks (finally!):
XBass: This setting pushes the bass to the front. If you’re a bass head, this might be the preferred setting, but in reality, the XSound Mega isn’t big enough to shake. Also, Xbass is too confusing for my taste.
Music: This is the obvious setting for music listening. It provides the most accurate representation for a speaker of this size, with equal impact on low, mid and high frequencies. Most users should set it as a music equalizer and forget about it.
Audiobooks: As an audiobook fan, I really appreciate this setup. Too many portable speakers can ruin the audiobook experience because the bass can dampen the sound. Audiobook settings accentuate the mid-to-high frequencies, making it easier to understand speech without turning up the volume. You can’t appreciate this setting until it’s gone.
You can easily see which EQ setting is being used by the little light next to the small text embossed in the speaker. For some reason, the lights in the audiobook settings don’t work. It’s no big deal to me, but could be a warranty issue for some.
Then there are the illuminated buttons. If you’re only 13, the lights around the speakers under the grill are cool. There are four lighting options: a rainbow light show that constantly loops, two “racing” lights that chase each other in front of the speakers, one that pulses and changes color as the music plays, and finally, turns off — like no lights Same. Needless to say, I turned the lights off.
Tibit XSound Mega can be paired with up to 100 speakers. Talk about sound walls!Sure, no one’s going to spend about $10,000 on 100 portable speakers, but hey, it Can occur.Note that if you want to pair two XSound Mega speakers together, they will no Pairs for true left/right stereo – Unlike StormBox speakers, it can be paired for true stereo.
As with other Tribit speakers, the audio quality is better than most speakers in this price range, sometimes a lot of better one. Whether I’m playing music or the audiobook I mentioned, I can enjoy the audio without being distracted by harshness or distortion. In fact, the only noticeable distortion came from setting the Xbass settings to almost full volume. Other than that, the XSound Mega sounds great in many situations.

final thoughts
I’ve reviewed some Tribit speakers (StormBox Micro, StormBox Proand home speakers– Comes with a light show. I appreciate the effort Tribit has put into their speaker line and their commitment to quality beyond the price. If asked to recommend a Tribit speaker, I would choose the StormBox Pro. It’s $20 more than the XSound Mega without the light show, but it sounds much better. However, if you’re on a tight budget and you want a good-sounding speaker for music and spoken content, or you have a light show that your kids love to sync with their music, the Tribit XSound Mega is for you choice.
