Uniqlo Launches Spring/Summer 2022 Collection with the Fun of Clothing

Japanese global clothing retailer Uniqlo shows us how fun clothing can be with its Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The collection offers fresh, comfortable, functional and stylish pieces, whether in the city, in nature, at home, or by the sea.

the fun of clothing

This season, Uniqlo focuses on the simple joys of people and clothes when they meet. In its latest collection, there is a blazer or dress that captures the modern life of the city, a pair of relaxed and roomy shorts for a trip outdoors, and crisp linens and Madeira in lively colors that can be worn on the beach s shirt. Uniqlo presents four sub-themes this season, and what ties them all together is that they bring joy and comfort to the wearer on sunny days.

Skyline fun

City dwellers enjoy the convenience of a cosmopolitan lifestyle: neighborhood cafés with friendly baristas, deli shops selling artisan cheeses, and restaurants serving farm-to-table food. This urban lifestyle calls for modern and contemporary clothes that can be worn to or from get off work.

The joy of landscape

Enjoy life beyond the grid, the rustling of the wind on the trees, the crunch of the leaves under your shoes, the colors and textures that blend with the landscape of nature.

fun of the imagination

Art and refined design stimulate the senses. Imagination is supposed to roam and enter brilliant new worlds, so UNIQLO looks to vibrant and uplifting colors for inspiration.

Sunshine and seaside fun

An afternoon at the beach, soaking up the sun and feeling the breeze, calls for natural textures, linens, and clothes that drape effortlessly. These are comfortable to wear and, more importantly, easy to take off when in the water.

Uniqlo

This season’s Uniqlo U collection is designed to support the daily rhythms of a variety of lifestyles. Artistic Director Christophe Lemaire and the Paris-based design team have crafted a relaxed, loose, clean silhouette for ultimate comfort.

This is also reflected in the palette, with brown, khaki and olive as earth tones. Warm, neutral colors such as faded oranges and greens, as well as army blues, also appeared. The children’s collection will be launched again this season.

go out

This season, Uniqlo’s exciting collection of T-shirts is inspired by art, music, film, comics and other cultural elements, and UT promises to cover diverse interests including film, art and photography.

A highlight of the season is Joshua Vides’ monochrome Mickey Mouse art collection. The artist is known for his immersive installations and products that embody the essence of Pop Art. Next is a series with Magnum Photos, a co-op that visually documents most of the world’s major events and people since the 1930s. The collection includes iconic photographs by Alec Soth, Eli Reed, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Gueorgui Pinkhassov, Elliott Erwitt and Martin Parr.

Accompanying these collections was Keith Haring’s first exhibition in 1982 at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York City. Joining Haring is a collection showing the art of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

In addition to sub-themes, Uniqlo offers collaborations that reflect different aesthetics but are all joy-based:

Tajima flower

Hana Tajima returns to create Uniqlo’s first dress collection. This season, the New York-based fashion designer has created clothes for life that are understated yet iconic.

Featuring dark greens and blues, the collection is inspired by the natural and floral patterns found in Tajima’s gardens. These patterns can also be found on hand-painted scarves.

Ines de la Fresange

Inès De la Fressange turned to the colorful Moroccan city of Marrakech for this season’s collection. Designers use cotton, linen and silk extensively to create high-quality, elegant and casual pieces.

The womenswear collection incorporates elements of menswear in natural colours and warm tones of red, orange and pink. The collection is true to de la Fressange’s effortless chic DNA, true French, true Inès.

JW Anderson

Never far from the sea, Jonathan Anderson was inspired by seafaring and the culture of seaside towns and ports when developing this collection. The sapphire blue of the sea, the soft browns of the coast and the calm beige of the chalk cliffs combine with elements of red, green and blue, reminiscent of a maritime pennant.

The nautical narrative is expressed through rope details, performance fabrics, patchwork and asymmetrical elements.

Uniqlo’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection will be available in all stores nationwide starting in February.
