Why Amazon no longer accepts Visa credit cards in the UK

MeterMillions of online shoppers in the UK received a letter from Amazon get. Among them, the online giant announced that it will no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the UK from January 19, 2022. Amazon immediately gave the reason: the cost is too high. The BBC quoted a press release from Amazon as saying that transaction costs should actually fall due to technological progress, but they will remain high or even increase.

An Amazon spokesperson said: “For companies that are keen to provide customers with the best prices, the cost of accepting credit cards is still an obstacle.” Customers can still use Visa debit cards, MasterCard and American Express credit cards as well as issuing outside the UK Visa credit card.
