Wind energy production costs over time

A reader Asking “what has changed in 11 years” in defending a quote from a 2012 blog post (written by someone with an MBA and no training in the field).

Well, as technology and equipment go, one thing is “cost”.from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (2022).

As discussed in this article, battery storage costs are also falling rapidly postal. This is a graph showing the evolution of the cost of capital and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (2021).

So, what has changed since 2012. Not sure, but a lot has changed since 2015. The cost of producing and storing wind energy has dropped dramatically. Presumably, the insecurity of gas and/or oil supply remains high or could rise (due to climate change increasing the likelihood of ERCOT infrastructure freezing up, or disruptions in oil production in places like Russia), so it looks like the benefits of wind energy The /cost ratio rises over time.

But that’s just me, referring to the data, not cited evidence from 11 year old blog post.

(BTW, this reader is Same person says Trump’s April 2018 tariff action will only lead to “volatility” in soybean prices; they didn’t recover until after the 2020 election, in which Trump lost. I guess 2 years is a “flash in the pan” for some people).
