review – Time is an interesting thing; I have memories of middle school classrooms staring at whatever the teacher is showing on the projector, which is a giant machine in terms of weight and noise. Bulky, they always take up a cart with wheels out of a desire to curb workers’ compensation cases, I’m sure, and with those transparent TANAGRAMS. I digress. That was a long time ago (same galaxy); the future is now. The behemoths of our past are the distant ancestors of the XIDU M1 WiFi projector. Could this cylinder, smaller than a gallon of milk, really be entertaining without worrying about quizzes?
What is it?
The XIDU M1 WiFi Projector is just that: projector. But gosh, is it a projector? Connect it to your computer, mobile phone, USB, TF (microSD) card, bluetooth, HDMI, if you are in the market for a larger viewing area for any media you have, then projection compared to a projector Meters can be a very cost-effective option for larger modern TVs. It has a maximum viewing size of 150 inches, but noted that the optimum viewing size is between 70-100 inches. Now go look at the prices of TVs over 70 inches. I will wait. Yes, the wallet is not very good. I was also struck by how clearly the picture was in focus. There is a big wheel above the lens, it is very easy to adjust the focus

Design and Features
At first glance, the XIDU M1 projector comes in a very ordinary box. You know it’s a projector, but you’re actually there for the mystery. Once out of the box, I can say that I was really pleasantly surprised to find all the accessories on the projector itself. Now, this model is designed for Android Bluetooth projection, but it does come with all the cables and connections to connect to a computer, TV, and even a fire stick.

Most notably it doesn’t come with a screen. Objectively cute suitcase, but no screen. Now, during the tighter lockdown time, I happen to have a budget screen to work with, but it does get me thinking about how the Xidu will perform on multiple surfaces.
So we test.

I waited until dark and decided to try projecting onto my garage door. It’s big, as white as a screen, and in theory, if I wake anyone up, I can send my neighbors “I’m sorry for doing this on a Tuesday night” message. The good news is that it works just fine. Of course, we used the Halo Bolt to power the XIDU, but we had to end the experiment early due to some freezing rain at the party. But it’s a clear picture. I was able to connect to my Android device seamlessly and was close enough to WIFI. I think the XIDU M1 projector passes this test.

Then I turned to a lazier idea – the ceiling. Listen to me: It’s also a large, whitish area where I can lie flat and scroll on some clock app. My friends, this was an epiphany. Seriously, plug and play here. No neck prickly heat, no eye strain, and a few things I didn’t notice when I was outside – the sound was excellent! I mean, I was actually surprised by the sound it made. It’s clear and loud. Now the base doesn’t rock the roof off and doesn’t have much control, but it’s not bad. Of course, positioning takes a bit of skill, as the unit isn’t meant to lie flat. That’s the speaker area — not the grey fabric band that wraps around the front as I originally thought. The metal power button does become uncomfortable, even when the XIDU M1 projector is in sleep mode, which I’ve noticed has become a trend.

Finally on the screen. Note that I’m focusing on projector quality – not my economy screen. These pictures really don’t meet the resolution requirements. Colors are crisp and there is no lag. I’m impressed that a small unit has this level of quality.
Speaking of which, the XIDU M1 projector is definitely designed for some travel entertainment.

what do I like
- Very lightweight and easy to carry around as long as you have power
- Excellent resolution of the projector and very easy focus adjustment
- The included tripod is sturdy and easy to adjust
- The remote control is responsive
- Easy to navigate menu
- Basically plug-and-play; with the popularity of HDMI connections, connecting it to your favorite media device is super easy
- Suitcases that encourage recreational adventures outside
- sturdy construction
what would i change
- In the unfortunate event of losing the remote, I’d appreciate some kind of control on the device itself; please don’t lose the remote
- Bluetooth connectivity can be finicky. HDMI connection or using a memory card are easier options
- Add headphone jack
- power cord is painful Short; honestly, using some kind of portable power source is your best bet, so that the user isn’t limited by the location of the wall plug for the best viewing angle

final thoughts
At this price point, the XIDU M1 projector is a leader in home entertainment. If you have the slightest impression of the Discovery Projector, then the XIDU is worth considering. If you can fix the ridiculously short power cord, then I can’t recommend this gadget enough. For all intents and purposes, my partner keeps claiming it. He has a small game box that works with an HDMI connector; this keeps him and his Mario Kart buddies busy for hours! Just kidding, XIDU is very easy to use and operate. The remote is snappy, but essential to use; lose it and all that’s left is the start of a neat Aperture Science Sentrybot model. Hopefully future generations will be able to control the device itself. Maybe it could remove the microSD slot (labeled TF slot) to add some buttons. But that’s probably a personal preference, and these aren’t deal breakers by any means. The compact construction makes it extremely easy to transport and eliminates the need to find enough space for a more traditionally sized projector, which I believe means it will make an appearance at many pool parties/barbecues this summer. The XIDU M1 projector is a great addition to your entertainment library.
