The Robert Koch Institute reported that since the end of June, delta mutations have occurred more frequently in Germany than all other mutations. This ratio may now account for two-thirds of all cases.

DHis particularly infectious Delta variant has become the main mutant in the German coronavirus pandemic. On Wednesday night, it stated in its latest weekly assessment that for the first time it dominated with a 59% share. Robert Koch Institute To the 25th calendar week (June 21-27).

It can be assumed that almost two-thirds of the new coronaviruses confirmed by PCR are now infected with the delta variant (B.1.617.2), and only one-third are infected with the alpha mutant. Alpha’s share dropped rapidly from 91% at the end of May to 33% at the end of June. Other virus variants currently do not work in Germany. Only some positive corona samples were examined for variation.

According to the report, the comparison shows that the proportion of Delta variants continued to increase sharply and almost doubled from 37% to 59% within a week. This strong growth was accompanied by a slight increase in the number of cases and a continuous low single-digit level of the 7-day incidence rate.

However, experts worry that as delta expands, there will be a trend reversal. This situation was observed in the UK and other places in May.
