Anyone traveling on long-distance buses or railroads on high-speed and intercity trains needs to prove that they have been vaccinated against Covid-19, tested negative or have recovered. This evidence is also called a green pass in Italy. It is a digital or printable certificate. They are not required for local public transportation.
According to Trenitalia, railway staff should check the certificate at the station or on the train. In Germany, there is still controversy over the possible obligation to provide corona protection evidence on long-distance trains. Several federal ministries expressed concern that they considered law enforcement “impractical.” According to her spokesperson, German Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) still believes that the 3-G rule in long-distance trains is a “feasible and wise measure”.
In Italy, now passengers on domestic flights must also hold a green pass. Anyone who travels by ferry between two Italian regions, for example from Lazio to Sardinia, also needs this certificate.

Due to the increase in the number of corona infections, the government agreed to further regulations in early August. First, she introduced the green pass requirements for restaurant guests who want to sit at the table. Before the rules that now apply, opponents of vaccination and green passes across the country strongly opposed it.
Further regulations apply to the school year restarted in September. School staff can only work with green passes—sometimes controversial rules. Those who cannot be vaccinated will receive a free corona test. Otherwise, these are usually charged in Italy. If school staff who do not have a green pass are absent for more than five days without cause, they may face dismissal. However, in universities, the obligation to provide evidence applies to students and everyone who works there, that is, those who are engaged in teaching or research.
