Review – If you own a computer, you may have used a thumb drive, or more accurately, a flash drive. They have always existed, but they are notorious for lack of memory, expensive (for larger capacity versions), and slow data transfer. Recently, as drives have become larger and cheaper, all this is changing. Kingston is one of the most respected and popular drive brands. The new Kingston DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 flash drive is the fastest flash drive they make. It is completely portable, easy to use, and has a design flaw that could disrupt transactions. Talk about it later.
What is it?
Kingston DataTraveler Max is a 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C flash drive used to transfer/store large amounts of digital data, such as photos, video text and music. Its read/write speed is as high as 1,000MB/900MB per second. It is protected by a hard plastic shell, which can be retracted to protect the connector. DataTransfer Max is available in three sizes: 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

Design and features
Almost any flash drive is a trick pony. It reads and writes files-nothing more. The only difference is speed, capacity and price.
Kingston DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 flash drives are long and thin, over 3 inches in length. This is a complete unit. No cover or other parts will be lost. The connector slides into the body-completely invisible. Insert easily and securely hold in place. The only disadvantage is the length. Be careful not to hit it when connecting.
As Kingston DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 flash drive, it can work perfectly with iPad Pro equipped with USB-C. It also works perfectly with my MacBook Pro-there is a design flaw that may discourage many people.
A drive that is almost an inch wide is too wide to insert another USB-C next to it. Up to two slots are required to use it-not good. I need all four slots for work. If you need additional ports, the only way is to use a hub, but you should not do this. Note: This question applies to MacBook Pro. This may not be a problem on some PCs.
However, if you don’t need to use all MacBook ports, DataTransfer Max is a great way to increase the storage space of your laptop. The 1GB version (the version I am reviewing) can fully back up a 1TB laptop with an SSC drive, such as my work MacBook Pro.
For Photoshop artists, a particularly good use of DataTraveler Max is to designate it as a scratch disk. This allows a laptop or desktop PC to use its memory for files, while having a large area for storing temporary files. This can greatly speed up Photoshop.

Final thoughts
Even if the Kingston DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 flash drive has a design issue, I still think it is a good way to back up files or use it as additional storage space. I just want it to be narrower.
