Design and features

I was surprised to hear that Olight extended to a knife, and then when I opened the package, I noticed that Oknife was embroidered on the flap of the protective bag. Will we see a new brand separate from Olight? Time will tell us.

The Olight (Oknife) Drever knife is available in low-key black (as shown in the picture) or refreshing blue.

I’m usually not a big fan of all-black EDC gear, but I really like the blue pop that Drever exudes on pocket clips, thumb nails and fastening hardware.

Looking at this knife from the top down, you will notice the beating on the spine.

Turn it over and you can see the matching jimping on the flippers tab.

When fully deployed, the Olight Drever knife is 8 inches long and can complete almost any task.

The low-key version of Drever has a cool-looking stone-washed black blade that matches the scales.

There is a generous finger choil, making this knife comfortable and safe to use.

Speaking of safety, there is a liner lock to prevent the blade from closing when it is fully deployed.

Even the lock has some elasticity so that your fingers will not slide when you unlock the blade.

Using the flippers tab to deploy the Olight Drever blade has turned this knife into my fidget toy; a very sharp fidget toy!

Once you get used to it, opening and closing the knife becomes a smooth motion. I have never been able to use the thumb nail to open the knife and found that the fins are much easier.

I haven’t tried to use this knife to chop down trees or carve my own avatar from a wooden post, but I did test it to open the box, which seems to me to be the first task of the knife. It passed with excellent results, which is not surprising. I used Drever to cut corrugated cardboard and it worked fine. I even tried to cut a bit, although I have nothing to show you, but I can say that this is also suitable for this task, so far, the edge is as sharp as the day I received the knife.

See it in action

what do I like

  • Well-made and attractive
  • Good balance
  • Smooth opening with fin-shaped tabs

What will i change

  • I can’t think of anything

Final thoughts

The Olight Drever knife is Olight’s first knife. If this is any sign of future development, I think it is safe to say that their knife will be as popular as their flashlight. I gave Olight Drever two thumbs up because I am happy to say that after checking this knife, I still have a thumb!
