Design and features
Obviously, Nomad spent a lot of thought and time in creating solutions for the iPhone, and they expanded their style with the iPhone 13 series. In addition to the Horween leather option, they also added a smooth protective cover, sticky skin, and screen protector.
All of their cases provide fall protection; the Sport Case is up to 6 feet, and the modern leather case and Folio are up to 10 feet.
If you prefer the minimalist, Leather Skin adds a thin layer of Horween leather to the back of the phone, while maintaining MagSafe compatibility and keeping the overall shape of the iPhone as slim as possible.
The glass screen protector provides a layer of protection for the glass of the iPhone without sacrificing any touch sensitivity requirements of your iPhone.

All cases are progressing according to your expectations, so I will only focus on items that need more clarity.
- Modern leather folio – The only thing to point out here is that Nomad does recommend installing a screen protector for this situation on your phone. This is because when you close the folio, the upper part of any card you install is actually in contact with the glass. Cards (especially newer metal cards) may cause some slight scratches on your phone glass, so this recommendation is not a preventive measure.
- Leather skin – This Horween leather panel has an adhesive layer glued to the glass on the back of the phone. It’s actually easy to install, and this video will help you do that.
Performance
I know what you are thinking… “These are just one or two other cases, right?”. Well, yes, and neither.
The modern leather case is an updated version of the previous model phone.
The fit and finish of each generation of products are constantly improving, and so is the touch of the keys. The MagSafe function is now expected to be used to protect the case, and Modern Leather will not disappoint.TonThe leather surface resists sliding and helps MagSafe to stick better.
Like all Nomad leather products, it will show wear and surface scratches over time. This is part of the charm of leather products, and it is also something you should know when choosing to use leather products.
Modern Leather Folio has all these same functions. In addition to providing 3 slots for storing credit cards/identity cards and a small pocket, it also adds a double opening cover extending from the left side of the protective cover to cover the phone when not in use. On bills or receipts.
The microfiber lining is soft and safe to hold against the iPhone’s glass, although the card may cause micro-scratches, so it’s a good idea to use a screen protector. You may already know if you are a portfolio user. This is not the type I like, but it is well made and works well. The result must be a thicker box, depending on the number of cards and bills you add.
The Sport Case is a new look of Nomad, with a glossy back and a separate button pressed into the case to increase the touch.
The camera lens frame is very proud, but it can protect the lens very well. The back feels very good, but it is definitely smoother than any other Nomad case, so if you don’t like a smooth case, please keep this in mind.
A new feature that applies to all 3 situations mentioned above is what Nomad calls digital business cards. Nomad added a coded RFID chip to the bottom center edge of the case (as can be seen from the logo recessed inside)…
In cooperation with the app Popl, you can use the contact information you set in the app to encode the RFID chip. The service is free for a limited subset of contact information, and there is a subscription option if you want to add very customizable details.
After setting up, you can easily share your contact information by quickly tapping another phone. The process differs depending on the phone you want to share, but in short, turn the phone over, then press the bottom edge again on the top of the iPhone (XR and newer) and shake it left and right slightly. Click the pop-up window on the phone you want to share, and you are done. If other methods do not work, you can also display a QR code. This is a very clever trick, and depending on how often you share your contact information, it can be very useful.
Leather Skin is a good choice for people who like iPhone without a protective case or who want leather texture but don’t need protection. The leather is very thin, so the intention is really just feeling. Because they use a specific 3M adhesive, they are easy to install and remove. After putting on the skin, the iPhone is less slippery and it feels less cold. MagSafe is still effective, but the magnetic retention force is slightly reduced, so please check the safety of all mounts before relaxing the grip of the phone.
As for the screen protector, it is easy to install, and the touch sensitivity of your phone will not change. Everything needed for installation is included, and it works fine. My only complaint is that you can only get one protector, which makes it much more expensive than the other 2-pack and 3-pack options.

- Ideally, there should be some texture elements on the back of the Sport Case to reduce slippage
Final thoughts
Nomad has many products here, and each product has its own unique quality. If one of their solutions is right for you, then it is worth looking into it carefully, because I don’t think you will be disappointed. In this group of products, the modern leather case is still my favorite because it has been the case in the past few generations of mobile phones. The thinness of the Sport Case is close behind, but it is a bit too slippery for my taste. I look forward to seeing what Nomad does next.
