we Reported before The satellite office of the Congressional Police plans a disturbing expansion nationwide.
Unlike other federal government-related police officers that are subject to FOIA and some executive departments, the Congressional Police are controlled by Congress and not subject to FOIA. So, basically you have a police force controlled by Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, distributed all over the country.
I’m not a conspiracy fan, but you don’t have to think there is a problem.
Now, there are more things ringing the alarm in my mind.
Not only will they set up offices across the country, first in California and Florida, but as they become “an intelligence-based protection agency,” they will also have military surveillance equipment. According to the Washington Times.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd (sic) Austin recently approved the requirements of the Capitol Police for eight Persistent Surveillance System Ground-Medium (PSSG-M) units. The system provides high-definition surveillance video and has night vision capabilities. According to the Pentagon, the system does not include facial recognition capabilities.
The Pentagon said: “This technology will be integrated with the existing USCP camera infrastructure to provide greater high-definition surveillance capabilities to meet steady-state mission requirements and help identify emerging threats.”
This technology was originally used by the US military during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, allowing users to monitor large areas 24/7 through extremely high-resolution cameras.
Oh, there is no problem there.
more?
In wartime applications, continuous monitoring devices are installed on tethered airships. Data can be stored, combined with sensor data from other platforms, and then referenced or rolled back to track individuals or groups.
The military can use it to conduct a “life pattern” analysis of suspicious enemy combatants or intelligence targets in the theater.
The Army will teach the Capitol Police how to use this technology.
It seems to be tailored to monitor large numbers of people, especially events like protests. I bet they will not protest against the left either. However, in practice, it may involve monitoring large areas. What is the sudden reason? Is it all because of the three-hour riot? Why doesn’t this sound like just to respond to the current threat to members of Congress? Can we talk about the use of these things to monitor Americans — and all the constitutional issues that may arise?
The Washington Times pointed out that the Federal Court of Appeals ruled that the use of continuous surveillance technology similar to “Gorgon Stare technology” was banned, and they considered this technology unconstitutional because of its wide coverage, allowing hundreds of people to be tracked at a time.
So, what happened here? Why are there so few reports on this? Because whether you are on the right or left, this should involve both sides of the aisle.
